Ana is going into her tenth year in speech & debate this fall. She has eight years of competitive experience in public forum and policy debate. In high school, she was the tenth speaker at the Tournament of Champions in Public Forum, while also competing and attending many camps as a policy debater. She then participated in college policy debate for four years at Wake Forest University, before graduating in 2023. While there, she won the 2023 ADA tournament, 2023 CEDA tournament, and the 2022 Gonzaga tournament. She reached the National Debate Touranment elimination rounds each year of attendance (2021, 2022, 2023), and in 2023, Ana was recognized as 5th best ranked team in the country on the Copeland Panel. While and since debating, Ana has also coached a variety of styles of debate. She has coached teams in policy debate to the elimination rounds, including Minneapolis South and Glenbrook South. She has coached college policy debate teams from George Mason University to the elimination rounds at the NDT, CEDA, and ADA championships for the past two years. She has also worked with Public Forum teams from College Prep to reach elimination rounds at several tournaments. She taught online debate courses at Debate Boutique, while also having worked at debate summer camps (Cal Berkeley, Wyoming Roundup, RKS, Harker) since graduating high school. Since 2022, Ana has been coaching Lincoln Douglas debate at the Harker School, helping students reach deep elimination rounds and championing tournaments. She is the new head of middle school debate at Harker, where she will be teaching public forum, lincoln douglas, and speech events. In terms of argumentative styles, Ana has coached kritikal performance teams, highly technical policy teams, flex debaters, and even the occassional phil debater. She emphasizes debate skills and argumentative processes over specialization in content, though she feels most of her expertise is in kritikal or policy-oriented arguments.
