Abigail debated for Winston Churchill High School (in Maryland) for four years. She has obtained 11 bids to the Tournament of Champions and reached octofinals of the 2022 Gold TOC her junior year. Other tournament successes include finaling TOC Digital Speech and Debate Series; semi-finaling Golden Desert UNLV, Ridge Debates, the Milo Cup at Millard North, and the University of Michigan Tournament; and quarter-finaling Stanford, Capitol Beltway, the Stephen Stewart Invitational, and the Peninsula Invitational. She has earned top-5 speaker awards at numerous tournaments, including Capitol Beltway, the Milo Cup at Millard North, and the University of Pennsylvania Tournament. Her senior year, she captained the debate team at both Winston Churchill High School and Potomac Debate Academy, ranking #13 in the U.S. and #2 in Maryland in public forum debate. She has been coaching debate since sophomore year, and has coached students ranging from middle school novices to high schoolers on the varsity national circuit. She is founder of DefiningDebate, an online institution dedicated to making public forum resources accessible to low-income communities nation-wide. She especially loves teaching back half strategy, rebuttal strategy, theory debates, and comparative weighing! She can’t wait to work at NSD this summer!
