Saranya debated for Mission San Jose High School and was President & LD Captain of the MSJ Speech and Debate team. She qualified to the TOC twice, in her sophomore and junior years, cleared at the TOC in her junior year, championed USC, and reached elimination rounds at several other tournaments. She was also President of Women in Debate (W.in Debate) and Peptalk Debate, and a mentor for both of these organizations. In her free time, Saranya watches football, reads, and bothers her pet cockatiel, Don.
